The Butterfly Effect

Had my vision for this blog not been to see metamorphosis in the lives of others, I would have completely missed this beauty…

After going through the process of  metamorphosis, this is what it looks like…

This next picture will help you understand why I almost missed this beauty in disguise…

Two things caught my attention when I found this “treasure”…

One is the lovely Monarch butterfly in the painting and the second is the fact that it’s a gorgeous illustration of reverse glass painting!

If you saw my post on Layers of Love, you’ll remember my new found love and appreciation for reverse glass painting!

The colors here are so vibrant, aren’t they!

To think that this was painted in reverse order baffles my mind…

With reverse glass painting the details are painted first. In contrast, with a portrait, the pupils and eye lashes might be the final touch on one’s face. With reverse painting they have to be the first things painted. If they are missed, there is no way to go back and add them…imagine that!

The process of reverse painting and the fact that this painting is of a butterfly reminded me of the butterfly effect…

The Definition of Butterfly Effect~

” The name of the effect, coined by Edward Lorenz, is derived from the theoretical example of a hurricane’s formation being contingent on whether or not a distant butterfly had flapped its wings several weeks earlier.”

The methodical layout that is required to pull off reverse painting is similar to the effect of even the smallest action or detail here on this earth.

I think of a random act of kindness that leads someone to turn their lives around and completely turn in a new direction. I also think of a word of encouragement that was all one person may have needed to venture out in something that may have at one time frightened them…or a kind gesture that gives hope to the person that needed something to keep them from taking their life… I could go on and on giving examples….and I’m sure you have a few examples yourselves!

Again, so beautiful…every detail matters in this piece. If one detail was neglected, it would not have been complete.

I see the same thing in our lives:

1. Our thought life is where the action begins…either positive or negative.

We need to ask ourselves what are we nurturing in our minds, and if they are birthed into action, what will they produce…

2. Our words set in motion a chain of events, either positive or negative.

Proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

3. Our actions are the results of what we thought about and spoke about~ They have consequences, either positive or negative…

Let’s be reminded today how important it is to encourage one another. We never know what beautiful results will come from that one word spoken in love to another.

The results might just lead to a “hurricane” of blessings in a person’s life, much like the butterfly’s flapped wings causing the formation of a hurricane on the other side of the world.

…just a little something to ponder…

Very encouraging post. It is important to remember the power of the tongue.

Beautiful ~ both the butterfly and the need to be mindful that every action, no matter how small has an effect. XOXO

You certainly have the eyes of faith to see such spiritual significance.

You share your love when you share your thoughts...
